Who is The Best Language User?
Communication and language exceed colors of skins and nations. Pupils from different NTIC schools (the ones in Kano, Kaduna, Ogun, Yobe and Abuja) will gather in Abuja for the 4th Nigeria Language Festival where they will enjoy the enthusiasm of competing with each other to show their talents and knowledge in different languages. NTIC Students will compete in the categories of their native and other languages, which are Hausa, Yoruba, Igbo, Turkish, English, French and Arabic. The event will be marked memorable with songs by students in these languages, heart-touching poems, colorful folk dancing performances of different cultures and sketches in different languages.
The three day event will be held between 06th and 09th of March 2013. The competitors will be exposed to a social experience in which they will try to establish an environment of love, tolerance and peace. The winners of the eliminations will go on for 3 days in final competitions, which will be held at Nigerian – Turkish Nile University and the award giving ceremony will be held on March 09. In the award giving ceremony, there will be many distinguished guests from Nigeria as well as Turkey. At the ceremony, the medals and the prizes will be given to the winners of the competitions.
The winners of Turkish language will represent Nigeria in the 11th National Turkish Olympiads where participants from 130 countries will compete for the gold medal. Besides, our students will use the opportunity to introduce Nigeria to Turkish people and the world at the culture stands.
They Have Been Preparing For A Whole Year
Having prepared for one year for the finals of the competition in Abuja, more than 100 competitors have been selected in their states as a result of breathtaking auditions. The contest is open to everybody at the ages of between 12 and 17, JS AND SS students and the ones who study English, Hausa, Yoruba and Igbo. For Turkish, French and Arabic, it is for students who choose to study these subjects as their foreign languages. The contestants passed their first stage in their class ranking top, and then the same in their school. Schools can participate in the competition both in individual category and in the team one.
The preparations and trainings commence at the beginning of first term of each academic year. The contest then becomes the language festival which comes to an end in March with the award giving ceremony in Abuja.
They Will Represent Nigeria In The World
It is significant here to notice that the winner students in Turkish Language Competition will contribute to the advertisement of Nigeria. Every year, more than 1000 competitors from 130 countries participate in International Turkish Olympiads, in Turkey. Students compete in the categories of singing, poem reciting, speaking, writing, grammar and reading. After the contests are over, the students represent and advertise their countries by their national culture stands. During that period, the environment turns into a culture festival where students coming from 130 countries and Turkey meet, interact and establish friendships.
The festival reaches its climax with the announcement of the best presenters and the most beautifully ornamented stands, which accompanies well- deserved prizes. And just for the records, more than 600,000 people visited the 10th International Turkish Olympiads Culture Festival in 2012. The Culture Festival and Award Giving Ceremony were broadcast live in more than 100 national and international TV channels.
